Exegesis

An explanation of my web presence creation selection

mehndi did not just come up to me like that, it was my liking for art and my interest to find out more. as it is part of my culture, why would i want to let it go for a waste. when i was a little girl, i used to attend wedding and some of the pre-wedding ceremonies. i would always stick my hand out whenever i knew that someone was going to put mehndi on the bride. i loved the attention paid to me at that moment plus i loved it whenever someone drew on my hands.

As i grew up, i had the desire to learn how mehndi was applied. I never knew how the cone was held or how to draw the patterns out. well i was artistic, i could draw anything, but not this. it became a challenge to me, and i picked up the cone to draw. i started off with drawing on my hands. it was difficult at first but i slowly learned the technique. i started off as a beginner with basic patterns, today im able to do any type of mehndi. I've done bridal mehndi recently. it was my first experience. i was afraid to do it, as i started, i became comfortable and it turned out well.

last year, before the Curtin open day, a friend of mine comes up and asks me would i like to put mehndi for people, i was excited and I said YES! it was an awesome experience. i met many people, and i enjoyed drawing out mehndi patterns on their hands. as mehndi is part of my culture, I'm still learning a lot about it and i hope to share my wonderful experience with all of you.

There are many free blog providers available such as WordPress.com, Xanga, Blogspot and Tumblr (mini blog). All the blogs have one thing in common, that is they allow you to start a blog for free, customize it to make it personal, informational, or commercial as well as let you keep track of your followers.  I have chosen to use Blogspot.  It is one of the most popular blog publishing tools around compared to the other blogging sites. When people search for the keyword blog or free blog, the first site to pop out in the search results is Blogspot.  Blogspot is the most user-friendly blogging platform compared to Wordpress.com. Wordpress.com is very complicating to certain people including me. Even though there are limitations, you can do a lot by playing around with the widgets and themes, to get your own personalized blog with your one of its kind touch. For individuals or companies with custom domains, you need not have to worry about extra charges when you hook them up with your blog.

Social Networking is one of the biggest crazes on the internet. People are using social network web sites such as facebook or Myspace to reconnect with old friends from school, colleagues, work, and even their favourite celebrities and musicians. Social Networking is Easy. Up-to-the-minute technology and web 2.0 standards have come a long way recently, making most social networks easier to use than email. The latest browsers are equipped with JavaScript making it simple for most social networks to permit people to construct profiles with almost drag and drop functionality. Besides that, there is Rapid Change & Development. We see MySpace, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, and twitter providing new and improved ways for all of us to interact, collaborate, ask and answer questions.  We see more and more improvements and other changes inside and outside of these social networking spheres of technology. As for these reasons, I have used facebook, twitter and flickr as my social network platforms to communicate and collaborate. On my posts, you will be able tabs for all the social networks. You can mail it, share it on twitter and facebook, blog it or google buzz. Not forgetting, flickr. I have used it as a slide show on the right hand side of my blog because it is one of the most popular platforms to share pictures and you can find any picture there.  I have also included a space where readers can subscribe to my posts by mail or bookmark my page with the RSS.

I have also included Google translate in my blog. This is because, if people find it difficult to understand English, they can translate it to their own languages. Besides that, I have used widgets such as recent post, chat box, who’s among us, facebook and follow me on twitter. The recent post widget is a list and a summary of my posts; it would give the readers a rough description to them about my topics. Next, the chat box, this is for my readers to communicate with each other besides posting out comments below my posts. Who’s among us and the number of visitors, lets the readers know how many people are there currently viewing my page and how many have viewed my page, it also serves as a statistic counter. The facebook badge and twitter update, allow my readers to go direct o my facebook and twitter page. They can keep in touch with me or even ask me any questions regarding henna.

On the other tab pages, I have included pictures and videos relevant to  henna. the pictures are from various websites and the videos are from YouTube
